The Muskegon Salvation Army Turkey Run is a community wide event delivering meals to shut-ins and those that would go without on a day that we are fortunate to share with families ourselves. From sports teams to civic groups to families, and 4 years old to 80 people from all over Muskegon take a few minutes out of their busy holidays to show their neighbors they are not forgotten.
We are looking for volunteers with dependable vehicles to help deliver meals. To sign up/for more information click here: Events - Thanksgiving Turkey Run Driver
or contact our office by phone at 231-773-3284 during office hours, Then simply meet us between 8:30 & 8:45 on Thanksgiving Morning at the Reeths Puffer High School Cafeteria for a brief safety/instruction meeting. Most years all meals are delivered within a couple hours, so you would be home in time to enjoy the big game, and your own dinner.
"I love the Turkey Run. Every year, I am able to go out of town and visit relatives without guilt because I know someone from The Salvation Army will deliver a meal to my home bound neighbor, and she won't be forgotten."
That's just one of the over 2,000 individuals volunteers delivered a meal to last year during The Salvation Army's annual Turkey Run. Meals are prepared and bagged up at Reeths Puffer High School early on Thanksgiving morning. Then hundreds of volunteers deliver those meals to area shut ins and those who otherwise would not have a hot meal.
